September 30 – Strange acts of God and itching ears. 2 Timothy 4:3; “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they draw to themselves teachers, having itching ears.”

Why would God want Joseph Smith to perform a strange act for Him? Furthermore, why wasn’t this passage in an LDS publication more forthcoming about what this ‘strange act’ would be? Ask the Mormon if this sounds biblical to them and if it concerns them God equated itching ears with unsound doctrine, but their teachers say it’s a ‘marvelous work and wonder’?

Messenger and Advocate, Vol. 1, p. 78; “…He has therefore chosen you [Joseph Smith] as an instrument in his hand to bring to light that which shall perform his act, his strange act, and bring to pass a marvelous work and a wonder. Wherever the sound shall go it shall cause the ears of men to tingle…” – Kirtland, Ohio, February 1835
