Proverbs 14:16 “A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.”
LDSLiving.com published an article on their site we thought was worthy of informing our readers of its dangerous lies. The name of the article alone should be a warning to members of the Church there’s something wrong; ‘4 Symbols to Watch for the Next Time You’re Outside a Temple’.
With that in mind, we’re taking an ever so brief look at the spiritual implications of what those four symbols mean.
A comment right at the beginning of their article stands as a stark warning of what Mormonism represents. Here’s what the author stated about the spiritual meanings of these symbols –
‘The symbols in the temple are left to our own interpretation, with help from the Spirit. But occasionally there are special symbols incorporated into the exterior design of each edifice that have traditional, historical meaning— symbols that, once understood, can enhance our spiritual experience during our temple visits.’
This type of reasoning shows a lack of discernment, and dates back to the inception of Mormonism. Joseph Smith was born at the beginning of America’s 2nd Great Awakening when spiritualism was all the rage. Not many held to a firm belief of sola scripture in their quest to become ‘more in tune’ with God which meant each family believed in its own interpretation of God.
The statement by this author is nothing but a repackaged lie with a shiny new bow and should be one of the scariest things there is for any seeker of truth.
Symbol #1 – Squared Circle
Mormonism:
‘Featured on the outside of many temples, this symbol has stood for centuries as the connection between God and man, with the circle representing the dome of heaven and the square representing the four corners of the earth. It reminds us of our purpose—to meet with God in His holy house— …’
Truth:
A must read site depicting the truth about this symbol tells us it’s purely Masonic. Many of their halls and temples are encased in the same symbology. For great examples see richardcassaro.com.
In short, this is a symbol widely used by Gothic Freemasons representing the belief that man is both a square (body) and compass (soul). It was once a ‘secret’ in ancient pagan cultures for fear of ridicule for the belief that deep inside each man a god resides.
Symbol #2 – Eight-Pointed Figures
Mormonism:
‘An old Christian symbol, eight-pointed figures typically signify resurrection and spiritual rebirth. This comes from the idea of a spiritual creation that occurred on the imaginary eighth day, after the seven days of physical creation. On LDS temples, they represent the need for all patrons to change from fallen mortals to sanctified, celestial beings by being reborn through Christ and the Resurrection (see Mosiah 27:25).
There are over 10,000 of these eight-pointed figures on the San Diego California Temple.’
Truth:
Three things to take note of with this symbol.
1.Mormons have historically claimed this symbol represents the Melchizedek Priesthood. We’re wondering why they’ve changed their story this time.
2.Their vague comment that it’s ‘an old Christian symbol’ tells us they don’t have definitive proof of what this is so they’re making it up as they go along.
3.Why are there more than 10,000 of these things on one of their temples?
Symbol #3 – Tree of Life
Mormonism:
‘Like the temple endowment, Lehi’s vision represents man’s journey back to the presence of God. The tree of life symbolizes the completion of our journey.’
Truth:
The tree of life is represented in almost every culture known to mankind throughout history. It’s used in magic and frequently mentioned in the Cabala.
Symbol #4 – Spires
Mormonism:
‘Present on most temples, spires raise our sight to God and encourage us to aspire to become like Him.’
Truth:
That’s the same lie Satan tempted Eve with in the Garden of Eden. You can know what He knows.
Furthermore, steeples are deeply rooted in pagan cultures, and officially known as obelisks. You can read a great article on this at biblicaltruth.net. They should have no place in the lives of a child of the Most High!
