Millennial Star, Volume 26, No. 16. April 16, 1864, p. 247; “THE MISSION OF JOSEPH SMITH
Who is the author of this work and gathering? Joseph Smith, the Prophet as an instrument in the hands of God, is the author of it. He is the greatest man on earth. No other man, at this age of the world, has power to assemble such a great people from all the nations of the earth, with all their varied dispositions, and so assimilate and cement them together that they become subject to rule and order. This the Prophet Joseph is doing. He has already gathered a great people who willingly subject themselves to his counsel, because they know it is righteous.” – Brigham Young
Jeremiah 17:5; “Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.”
Hebrews 12:2; “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
There are three problems with Brigham’s doctrine –
1.Is Joe the Mormon god? Mormonism claims their god authored the doctrines, not Joe Smith.
2.Why isn’t Jesus the greatest man on earth who ever lived?
3.The Bible clearly states that Jesus is the author of our salvation! Why did Brigham adorn Smith with such a lofty status, and debase God?
Brigham delivered this speech 20 years after Smith’s death, so when he said Smith ‘is the greatest man on earth’, it reveals his real agenda. Most regrettably, it wasn’t Christ Jesus and Him crucified.
