James 2:19 “Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.”
The other day Melissa emailed asking if I’d heard about the latest LDS Primary song that’s a big hit in Mormon circles. I’ve copied Melissa’s email below because she said what I was thinking!
In essence, the main theme of the song encourages little kids to be just like Joe Smith. One has to wonder where Jesus might fit in…
For more info, and complete lyrics to this song, see blakegillettemusic.com. Apparently in the link you can also read the bio of the song’s author (Blake Gillette), in addition to other pieces he’s composed. Mr. Gillette is an orthopedic surgeon, and lives in Utah with his wife and kids.
One thing is abundantly clear in all this – we need to pray for those who are singing these lies, and for those teaching the heresy!
With Love in Christ;
Michelle
Here’s Melissa’s note –
Have you heard about the new Primary song? …ex-Mormon Christians were talking about it on a FB page I follow. Now, I couldn’t listen to all it…Honestly I didn’t make it past one minute into the song, so if you choose to listen you’ve been warned! I will be what I believe
My thoughts on the video? Well, notice anything odd about it? The huge thing that popped out to me was that aside from the little Asian kid at the beginning, all the kids are white. Now I didn’t watch the whole video, but from what I saw most of the kids were not kids of color.
Watching what I did of it hurts my heart. Just look at the chorus of the song ~
“I’ll have faith like brother Joseph and the strength of the pioneers.
I’ll be brave as a strippling warrior and like Nephi persevere.
I will spread God’s love to all I know and serve.
I will plead with my Father on my knees: I will be what I believe.”
These poor kids. They need Jesus and they’re taught to sing about Joseph, and fictional characters in a book.
Just think about the title of the song, and that children are singing ‘I will be what I believe’. It makes me think of the verse that says even the demons believe in Jesus. Believing means nothing. How about I will choose to walk with Jesus, I choose to follow His example?
So those are my thoughts on the song. 🙂
In Christ,
[From Michelle: As an additional thought on the lyrics…one line has the kids singing they are ‘the army of Helaman’. That BoM character supposedly died off, despite the promises of their god the people would live forever.
Besides, the Bible tells us we’re soldiers of Christ!]
2 Timothy 2:3-4 “Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.”
Brainwashing the kids from as young as possible. Disgusting.
“I’ll have faith like brother Joseph.” Joseph had faith in Jesus Christ. And what about other primary songs? “I’m Trying to be Like Jesus,” “I know my Father lives,” “I pray in faith,” “He sent his son,” “Tell me stories of Jesus,” “Jesus is our loving friend,” “Jesus loved the little children,” “Jesus wants me for a sunbeam,” “Jesus has risen,” and many, many more. After all, “Mormon” is just a nickname. We are called the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I know without a doubt that Jesus Christ is my Savior and He will return to Earth in the Lord’s time. This I learned from primary. This is what’s being taught. We grow closer to him by learning from His, and other’s example. I thought we were past persecuting the LDS. I guess not.
“Mormon” may just be a nickname, but it describes a cult which pretends to be Christian. A cult whose god had sex with his daughter Mary to provide a body for Jesus to inhabit. A cult whose Jesus can’t save them from their sin without their hard work first. A cult founded on a lie and invented by a con artist who dabbled in the occult.
It isn’t persecution to expose false teachings. Drop the victim card and actually listen to the facts.
