Doctrines of Salvation 3:239 “ANCIENT CITY OF MANTI IN MISSOURI. The following is also taken from the history of the travels of the Kirtland Camp: “The camp passed through Huntsville, in Randolph County, which has been appointed as one of the stakes of Zion, and is the ancient site of the City of Manti, and pitched tents at Dark Creek, Salt Licks, seventeen miles. It was reported to the camp that one hundred and ten men had volunteered from Randolph and gone to Far West to settle difficulties.” — Joseph Fielding Smith
Deuteronomy 11:16 “Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them”.
Our LDS reference today comes courtesy of the 10th LDS Prophet, Joseph Fielding Smith. In his voluminous work, Doctrines of Salvation, we see how he kept perpetuating the lies of his great-uncle, Joseph Smith.
The excerpt he inserted came from notes in Messenger and Advocate, July, 1835, pp. 158-159, where Smith’s scribes dutifully wrote the history of their travels through the Midwest. During this time, Smith would stop and pretend to identify battlefields of the Nephites, and Lamanites. One of the biggest stories was naming a warrior they call, ‘Zelph’.
To date nothing about the BoM has been found, and in fact the Church discourages members from pointing to exact locations,.
Please pray for Mormons to stop and question all the outlandish stories they hear and read about in their classes! There is plentiful info all over the web to show the tremendous fallacies of these false teachings!
With Love in Christ;
Michelle
It is hard to believe that so many Mormons still consider the BOM to be the most perfect book ever written. Typically, Mormons do not question the historical accuracy of the BOM. If the Prophet tells them it is a legitimate text, they believe it without question
Thank God for the internet. More and more Mormons are learning the truth about the BOM and about Joseph Smith. The church is running scared. The church is in a position where it has to make up lies to cover for other lies.
A warrior named Zelph, interesting. Joe believed himzelph to be many things. Makes you wonder.
There is this young convert named Kwaku (pronounced Quay koo), he has been interviewed by several Christian apologists, (Dr. James White, Jeff Durbin, Arron Shafovoff, etc. ). He’s claiming The National Geographic Society has recently uncovered things that could support the BOM, in Guatemala. So I did a little checking myself and found no such claims by the NGS or anyone else for that matter.
thanks for sharing that info – great job! 🙂
