John 5:26 “For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself:.
The Historical Record 6:226 “From him [Joseph Smith] I learned the doctrine of plural and celestial marriage is the most holy and important doctrine ever revealed to man on the earth, and that without obedience to that principle no man can ever attain to the fullness of exaltation in the celestial glory.” — (Signed) William Clayton, Salt Lake City, February 18, 1874
1 Timothy 4:1 “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils”.
While it may seem we’re digging deep for long lost writings of past Mormon theology, nothing could be further from the truth.
Couched in LDS canon is Joseph Smith’s list of do’s and don’ts, aka, the Doctrine and Covenants. It’s there where the reader will see Doctrine and Covenants 132:4, 61 confirming the claims William Clayton made 145 years earlier…
“For behold, I reveal unto you a new and an everlasting covenant; and if ye abide not that covenant, then are ye damned; for no one can reject this covenant and be permitted to enter into my glory. 61 And again, as pertaining to the law of the priesthood—if any man espouse a virgin, and desire to espouse another, and the first give her consent, and if he espouse the second, and they are virgins, and have vowed to no other man, then is he justified; he cannot commit adultery for they are given unto him; for he cannot commit adultery with that that belongeth unto him and to no one else.”
Now foregoing the fact their ‘scripture’ continues on with their god telling Joe he can’t sin by marrying ten+ virgins, the question begs to be asked…
What about God of the Bible?
Why isn’t the Lord announcing who He is the most important doctrine ever revealed to mankind?
Please, pray for the Mormon people to start questioning why this is part of their canon if they’re not adhering to it? Does this mean polygamy isn’t the most holy thing God ever revealed? Moreover, why isn’t this part of their BoM? The BoM actually denounces polygamy in Jacob 2:27.
If the claim we’ve shown here is true (which it is), that means Joe Smith lied. Again.
With Love in Christ;
Michelle
Not all of Joe’s wives were virgins when he married them. The same for Brigham. Some were already and still married.That seems to contradict his statement.
Yes, you are correct. My understanding is that six of Joe’s wives were married to to other men when they married old Joe.Even today, the Mormons believe you can not enter into the highest level of the Celestial Kingdom unless you are married and have been sealed in the temple. Paul said in 1 Corinthians 7:27: “Art thou bound to a wife, seek not to be looses. Art thou loosed from a wife, seek not a wife.” The reason Paul encouraged people to remain single is described in 1 Corinthians 7:32,33: “But I would have you without carefulness. He that is unmarried careth tor the things that belongeth to the Lord, how he may please the Lord. But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, that he may please his wife.”
