June 28 – His Word Never Changes. Matthew 24:35 “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.”
_____
Thirteen words. Jesus spoke thirteen words that’ll forever hold significant power for those who follow Him. Share His promise with a Mormon and ask if they believe what He said. Just like the ever faithful spouse, our Bridegroom Jesus is always dependable and provides a safe place for us. Morning, noon, or night, year after year, we can turn to His word with the assurance it’ll never change.
Ms. Burton basically said searching the scriptures is equivalent to listening to their prophets. The problem as we all know, is the evolving doctrines Mormons espouse. Mormons believe their monthly magazine publication of the ‘Ensign’ is scripture and they’re told to put it on their nightstand to read each night. When, not if, their ideas change it means their scripture has changed.
Ask the Mormon with the recent developments of their apostles and leaders confessing the BoM and other Mormon canon isn’t true, what scripture can they turn to, and trust every day of their life?

Church News, ‘Sister Burton Shares Nine Ways to Draw Closer to God,’ March 2, 2014 “Search the scriptures daily. Quoting the words of Elder Robert D. Hales of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, Sister Burton said, “When we want to speak to God, we pray. And when we want Him to speak to us, we search the scriptures, for His words are spoken through His prophets.” – Linda K. Burton
Scary stuff when you think about it. When you have the members of a church, believing that the words of their leaders are equal to or supercede the words written in the Bible, that is troublesome, at the very least.
I have mentioned this before and I will mention this again. I am not so sure that all of the church’s General Authorities (President and his two(2) counselors and the twelve (12) apostles), actually believe, in their hearts, that they are special men ordained of God. I would be willing to wager, that some of those guys do not believe the BOM to be God’s Word nor do they believe that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God
So then, why don’t they say something? If any of the fifteen GAs were to announce publicly (General Conference, newspaper or TV) that they did not believe the Mormon church to be true, the damage it would do to the church would be of epic proportions.
What would happen if one of the fifteen GAs were to answer an altar call, at say, one of Franklin Graham’s revival crusades?. If the GA stood and accepted Jesus Christ as his lord and Savior and denounced the Mormon church. A situation like that just described is what we should all be praying for. What say you guys???
Oh I’ve thought about that on many occasions! 😉 If God could make the walls of Jericho come tumbling down, He could certainly answer the prayers of His righteous people to bring down the walls of SLC!
