Ensign, “How Men Are Saved,” November 1974, General Conference “Man is a soul, that is, a dual being, a spirit person clothed in a tangible body of flesh and bones. God is a perfected, saved soul enjoying eternal life. He is both immortal and exalted to the highest glory. He is enjoying that blessed condition which men may attain to by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the gospel.” – Marion G. Romney [emp. added]
Numbers 23:19 “God is not a man, that he should lie; Neither the son of man, that he should repent: Hath he said, and shall he not do it? Or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?”
In many ways Mormonism is much like the Israelites of Jeremiah’s day. They followed the crowd, and worshiped Asherah the fertility goddess atop the lush green hills of Judah. Jeremiah 3:8
Fast forward 2,400 years to the Second Great Awakening, and you’ll see how people adopted a hodgepodge of beliefs known as spiritualism, of which Joseph Smith was an active member.
The God of the Bible didn’t fit Smith’s ideals, and was summarily replaced with a new god he found in a grove of trees in upstate New York. The words of King Solomon come to mind when he said, ‘there’s nothing new under the sun’ — Ecclesiastes 1:9.
Just as the Israelites worshiped foreign gods, Mormons have been worshiping a god foreign to anything we read about in God’s word. By default, the false god Mr. Romney spoke about is far from perfect. By his own admission, his god is ‘perfected’ which means that at one time, he must not have been.
Pray for the Mormons who believe this lie, and use demonstrative evidence from God’s word showing why Smith, and Mr. Romney is wrong.
With Love in Christ;
Michelle
” Now I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of God neither does corruption inherit incorruption.” (1 Corinthians 15:50)
If you believe Joseph Smith in DC 130;1,3) then you totally denying what the Bible says in the above cited verse, along with John 4: 24, which states very clearly that “God is a Spirit”. If DC 130:1 is correct, then God cannot reside inside his own kingdom
DC130:3: States that God and Jesus can not dwell in the heart of a man because they are flesh and blood. If you believe this, you had better read the Book of John, Chapters 14, 15, 16. In those chapters, time and time again, Jesus clearly states that his spirit will ( personally ) reside inside the hearts of his followers forever. That his presence will be with us to comfort us and give us the strength to do his will (Philippians 2: 13)
