Book of Mormon Student Manual, p. 95 “We are not saved in our sins, as by being unconditionally saved through confessing Christ and then, inevitably, committing sins in our remaining lives (see Alma 11:36–37). We are saved from our sins (see Helaman 5:10) by a weekly renewal of our repentance and cleansing through the grace of God and His blessed plan of salvation (see 3 Nephi 9:20–22)” (in Conference Report, Apr. 1998, 77; or Ensign, May 1998, 56).”
Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
The problem here is hopefully obvious. Man was born with a sin nature which negates Joe Smith’s teaching that kids are born perfect.
Having a sin nature, therefore, would mean we as mankind, are prone to sin – Jeremiah 17:9 states man’s heart is deceitful. Another good resource for our sin nature is found in Romans chapter seven where Paul tells the new believers that he struggles with wanting to do good, but he always falls short. He then praises God for His provision of salvation even in his dreaded predicament.
This passage in their teaching manual is one of the worst of the worst! According to their teachings, no one will ever find salvation. Shame on them.
Share with the Mormon you know how this BoM passage contradicts God’s word!

“He that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live; and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.” (John 11:25) Mormons believe that Christ’s blood was not enough for salvation, Mormons believe that putting your (entire faith) in the shedding of Christ’s blood is a shortcut. Mormons believe you must obey laws, ordinances and work hard for the church in order to be saved. Mormons believe you have to work for salvation, get married in the temple, obey leaders of the church etc. Mormons don’t understand that because of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, we no longer have to work to be saved. Christ secured our salvation with his blood. Nothing we can do , works wise, is going to save us. Going to the temple and receiving your endowments isn’t going to save you. WE ARE SAVED BY FAITH ALONE, After we are saved, then we will do good works in order to further God’s Kingdom on earth, not to build up the LDS Church
Well if they didn’t have to do the work, then their appointed leaders are out of work.
“I want to call your special attention to the fact that we are saved by grace alone, not by workstand grace. A great many people think that they can be saved by works. Others think that salvation may be attained by works and grace together. They need to have their eyes opened to see that the gift of God is free and apart from works.
Charles Spurgeon
Mormon scripture has a lot of conflicting ideas, especially between the BOM and D&C. There are so many conflicts between the two texts that Mormons are confused. The Bible has no contradictions.
Ever notice in Mormon Meetings that Joe Smith is often the object of focus rather than Jesus
Joe Smith once said: I have more to boast of than any man, including Jesus. I have been the only man able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam. Neither Paul, Jesus or Peter were ever able t do the things I have done. He went on to say that “no man ever did as much work as I.”
Old Joe was saying that he was able to do things that even Jesus couldn’t’ do. Mormonism gives glory to Joe Smith rather than to God
