Romans 1:25 “Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. A-men.”
Today we’re looking at one of the ways Joseph Smith confused people.
Genesis 37:36 “And the Midianites sold him into Egypt unto Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh’s, and captain of the guard.” Also in Genesis 39:1.
Abraham 1:20 “Behold, Potiphar’s Hill was in the land of Ur, of Chaldea. And the Lord broke down the altar of Elkenah, and of the gods of the land, and utterly destroyed them, and smote the priest that he died; and there was great mourning in Chaldea, and also in the court of Pharaoh; which Pharaoh signifies king by royal blood.”
Switching the meanings of people, places, and things was an oft used tool in Joseph Smith’s bag of tricks. See Demonic and Ungodly Names in the Book of Mormon for several examples.
We’ve examined this debauchery in his Book of Mormon in the link listed above, and here it is in another supposed holy book Smith named the Book of Abraham.
There’s no such place as Potiphar’s Hill. Moreover, the word Pharaoh doesn’t mean ‘royal blood’, nor does it signify such a thing.
Lastly, the names of the supposed false gods he listed are just that – false. They’re nothing but names Joseph Smith made up. There’s no record of a god known as ‘Elkenah’ in Egyptian history.
Ask the Mormon you know what they think of the Book of Abraham!
With Love in Christ;
Michelle
I wouldn’t be surprised of many o th ename in the BOM were in actuality the name of demons. I do believe that the BOM was written by JS and Oliver Cowdrey, with the help for Powere of darkness in High Places. ]]
Remember in Matthew 16;22,23? Peter was speaking to Jesus and said to him: “This shall not be unto thee.” And Jesus, turned around to Peter and said; “Get thee behind me Satan.” Jesus knew that Satan spoke through the mouths of men, to include, even his best friend and follower Peter.
Joe Smith believed in magic. personally, Ibelieve Satan uses magic to lure people away from the Gospel of Christ
