May 26 — Checking Out the Resource. 2 Timothy 3:16 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”

Two of the most important tools in a Christian’s life is assurance of salvation which comes by His Holy Spirit, and God’s word Ephesians 6:17.
Instructions to young Timothy was also a much needed resource for his life then, and our lives today. This is especially true as we read the words of a Mormon apostle who declared their prophets speak by the power of the Holy Spirit.
One of the ways we can know his outrageous claim isn’t true is by statements they’ve made in the past (the thinking has been done), and to doubt your doubts.
The Church’s mantra of obedience to their prophet without questioning has always taken precedence over God’s word, leaving no room for His Holy Spirit to do operate in the life of a believer. Moreover, they haven’t bothered to find out the phrase by the power of the Holy Spirit means ‘theopneustos’, meaning ‘God Breathed’. This can only mean they don’t want members to check out the truth.

Prophets Speak by the Power of the Holy Spirit “By following them [the prophets] our lives are happier and less complicated, our difficulties and problems are easier to bear, and we create a spiritual armor around us that will protect us from the attack of the enemy of our day.” — Ulisses Soares
Obedience in Mormon Speak actually means Obedience to the Mormon Church, not necessarily to God. All the rules the church has laid down for it’s members, include the promise of a blessing if you obey, .If you tithe your last dollar to the church, rather than on rent, food or medicine, the Lord will surely bless you. Oh and by the way, tithing only counts when you give your money to the church. Tithing to homeless shelters, children’s hospitals, soup kitchens, Salvation Army or Cancer Research, does not count in the eyes of God. If you want blessings, give what you have to the church.
