“And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent”. Matthew 27:5
One of the most important parts of Christianity is missing in the BoM. Its narrative excludes any mention of the temple veil, which means the spiritual significance of that all-important day is lost on the Mormon people.
Hebrews 4:16 “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”
Instead of learning they have direct access to God because of Jesus’ death, they’re taught of the importance they must face with a veil they’ve erected in their temples. See Temple Endowment Ceremonies Part 5 The Veil.
In a talk at the October 2019 General Conference, Ulisses Soares told members of the Church that picking up their cross meant temple marriage. If it’s that important, why isn’t it mentioned in the BoM?
Another crucial part of biblical significance is lost in the Book of Mormon with no mention of the Mormon priesthood. See The Missing Priesthood in BoM, for more info.
One would think that if the temples, and the Mormon priesthood is so important in LDS theology, there’d be something in the BoM, aka, ‘the fullness of the gospel’ about these two topics.
Ask the Mormon you know what they know about the BoM, and why it doesn’t talk about these things.
With Love in Christ;
Michelle
