Today we’re checking out two talks given at GC; one by Dallin Oaks, the other by David Bednar. As we’ve noted earlier, the main theme for this conference was addressing racism. However, true to form, they couldn’t miss the opportunity to throw in the obligatory false teachings.
4.Proving Oneself for Eternal Progression
General Conference, ‘We Will Prove Them Herewith’, October 2020 “…tests in the school of mortality are a vital element of our eternal progression. Interestingly, however, the word test is not found even one time in the scriptural text of the standard works in English.
Rather, words such as prove, examine, and try are used to describe various patterns of demonstrating appropriately our spiritual knowledge about, understanding of, and devotion to our Heavenly Father’s eternal plan of happiness and our capacity to seek for the blessings of the Savior’s Atonement. …The process of proving ourselves is a fundamental part of Heavenly Father’s great plan of happiness.” — David A. Bednar
Mr. Bednar’s talk sounds a lot like Hinduism’s reincarnation theology.
The true test is accepting that Jesus’ name is above all names, and the only way we can be saved! Acts 4:12
5.Racism Still a Problem in Mormonism
General Conference, ‘Love Your Enemies’, October 2020 “We live in a time of anger and hatred in political relationships and policies. We felt it this summer when some went beyond peaceful protests and engaged in destructive behavior. We feel it in some current campaigns for public offices.
Unfortunately, some of this has even spilled over into political statements and unkind references in our Church meetings.
Anger is the way to division and enmity. We move toward loving our adversaries when we avoid anger and hostility toward those with whom we disagree. It also helps if we are even willing to learn from them.
As citizens and as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we must do better to help root out racism.
This country should be better in eliminating racism not only against Black Americans, who were most visible in the recent protests, but also against Latinos, Asians, and other groups. This nation’s history of racism is not a happy one, and we must do better.” — Dallin Oaks
The only way they can do better is to accept Jesus, and denounce Joseph, along with his false gospel, the BoM.
Pray for Jesus to intervene, and Mormons to open their Bibles to find truth~
With Love in Christ;
Michelle
