Answers to Gospel Questions 4:27 “Here he [Mormon] declares that it was soon after the Savior’s ascension into heaven that he appeared to the Nephites and Lamanites on this continent. And his ascension was the day of his resurrection after his appearance to Mary at the tomb, and before his appearance to the disciples that same day.” — Joseph Fielding Smith
Acts 1:3 “To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God”.
Today we’re looking at another example of how the Church goes out of its way to mislead and confuse LDS members.
Mr. Smith’s explanation of when Jesus ascended into heaven is far from correct. He based his answer on 3 Nephi 10:18-19 which gives no information about this important historical event.
“And it came to pass that in the ending of the thirty and fourth year, behold, I will show unto you that the people of Nephi who were spared, and also those who had been called Lamanites, who had been spared, did have great favors shown unto them, and great blessings poured out upon their heads, insomuch that soon after the ascension of Christ into heaven he did truly manifest himself unto them—19 Showing his body unto them, and ministering unto them; and an account of his ministry shall be given hereafter. Therefore for this time I make an end of my sayings.”
Moreover, the lie can be shown by using just one verse in the Bible we’ve listed above.
With Easter in the not-too-distant future, share these comparisons with the Mormon you know!
