April 6 – Birth of Christianity. Matthew 16:18; “And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”
_____
A few months before His death, Jesus foretold of His church’s existence in Matthew’s gospel. By the time Pentecost arrived, all of the foundation stones for the church to survive were in place and ready to operate. This entailed the following; Jesus had died, He was resurrected, He ascended into heaven, the Holy Spirit had been given to men, and lastly, the authority to baptize and preach had been given to men.
Therefore, we don’t look further back into the OT for a church, neither do we look for a time when His kingdom would be established because it began in Jerusalem. If anyone says the Church began anywhere but at that time, or any place but Jerusalem, it’s not of God, but man.

Encyclopedia of Mormonism, p. 61; “April 6, 1830, is the date on which The church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was organized. The Prophet Joseph Smith was divinely authorized to reestablish the Church of Christ on this day (see Restoration) and it may be the anniversary of the Lord’s birth on earth (D&C 20:1). The Church commemorates the importance of April 6 by scheduling its annual General Conference on or near this day.”
