May 1 — Scandal of the Cross Removed. Hebrews 2:10-11 “For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. 11 For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren.”

The transliteration for sanctify is hagiazō which means to make holy, or purify. Hebrews clearly states Jesus will deliver believers into heaven, and can do so because He has purified us through His sufferings on the cross.
As Matthew Henry once stated, the scandal of the cross was removed with God’s acceptance of Christ’s perfect sacrifice. Our purification is a result of what He’s done, not us!
Christian vocabulary in the Mormon’s vernacular is a learned behavior performed by rote, and it’s done so as a tool to trick the unknowing.
Mr. Bednar’s false teachings seen below is one example of how they do this. Nothing short of a Redeemer can cleanse our sinful selves, so beware when others tell you otherwise!

General Conference, ‘Let This House Be Built Unto My Name’, April 2020 “…covenants received and the ordinances performed in temples are essential to the sanctifying of our hearts and for the ultimate exaltation of God’s sons and daughters.” — David Bednar
