September 28 – LDS Have No Assurance of Salvation. 1 John 5:13 “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”

I pray as one Christian to another, you’d know with all your heart and mind you are indeed saved. If you know this, please do share it with the Mormon you know! I’ve yet to meet a Mormon who can tell me they know they’re going to heaven. I wasn’t even aware the Lord told us we can have this assurance until after I left Mormonism.
A far too oft phrase used in the Church is, ‘I’ll find out when I get there’. Sadly, that statement is all too true.
Ask the Mormon if they’ve forsaken all their sins which is a requirement for true salvation. Smith used this to put fear into the hearts of his followers. The effect leaves a sense of having no assurance. Sadly, it doesn’t matter how hard you repent, or how many pseudo good works they say are necessary to earn salvation, it’ll never be enough.
