General Conference, ‘Trusting the Doctrine of Christ,’ April 2023 “…If we are to accept President Nelson’s invitation to have the doctrine of Christ rooted in the marrow of our bones, we must deepen our conversion to the Lord by study, prayer, faithful living and continual repentance.
We must invite the Holy Ghost to engrave the doctrine of Christ ‘in fleshy tables of [our hearts]’ (2 Corinthians 3:3) as permanently as it was engraved by Nephi upon the plates of gold. … Building “on the foundation of a covenantal relationship with Christ, we are trusting the doctrine of Christ, and, as we come unto Him, we have His promise of eternal life.” — Evan A. Schmutz
Matthew 15:9 “But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.”
There are numerous issues with Mr. Schmutz’s talk.
The first problem is stating they must listen to their prophet.
The second is referring to Nephi who supposedly lived c. BC 559-545. How would he know these things?
Last but not least – how could they trust the doctrines of Christ when they don’t trust the Bible and they worship a different Jesus?
Please pray for members to read the Bible and think about what this man said!
With Love in Christ —

[…] General Conference 2023: LDS Told To Trust Bible Doctrines — Evan A. Schmutz […]
Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints most certainly read and study the King James version of the Holy Bible!! We have faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of our Heavenly Father, our Savior and elder brother!! We love Him and try to live our lives in such a manner as He did.
Hi Trulie,
I have a sincere question for you…How can Jesus be our savior and our elder brother? He can’t be eternal and created.
Also, nothing wrong with the KJV version but, there are other translation with a more updated English style. It doesn’t make them bad or wrong…and it doesn’t change the text or meaning.
Great questions!
I often scratch my head over the fact that they include the Bible in their Standard Works. It may be a case needing a head doctor because it makes no sense. ***Forgive me for going OT…..but someone posted a comment about 60 Minutes 5/14/2023. It was about the whistleblower, David Nielson, who worked for the Mormon church. I found Mr. Nielsonś episode on youtube.
I haven’t seen the YouTube video yet but will make sure I do!
I know there was a ruckus about a yr ago from a guy who was suing the church to get his tithe money back after it was revealed they had stockpiled all that money,
And BTW… you’re not going OT! 🙂
