Jesus’ lineage can be found in the books of Matthew and Luke; neither of these books say anything about Joseph Smith being in the lineage of Jesus Christ. See Matthew 1:1-17, Luke 3:24-38.
Furthermore, Joseph was not the Rod from the loins of the Stem of Jesse – this is a reference to Jesus.
This phrase comes from Isaiah 11:1-2 “And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: 2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD.”
Additionally, there is Romans 9:7 “Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.”
This is another reason why the teachings of the Church are heretical. Here we have a so-called prophet of God claiming to be a relative of Jesus.
It’s as if he’s calling himself the savior as well. He was probably reluctant to say this aloud for fear they’d know that he had finally gone too far.
Ask a Mormon if they think Joe is related to Jesus and share why they can’t be related based on what the Bible says!
