January 29 — How Churches Operate. Romans 12:16 “Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.”
_____
Make time in your day to share with a Mormon how the body of Christ operates. If you’re speaking with a lifelong member of the Church, please, be patient as you describe what it’s like being a Christian!
Many lifelong members are gun-shy of even stepping inside a non-Mormon church so reminding them the Holy Spirit is always there is a great help for them. Many new ex-Mormons will also wonder if everyone gets along and if disagreements arise, how they’re handled within the congregation.
Be honest about your experience and always be positive! Explain how the body of Christ operates much like a family does – the difference between Christianity and Mormonism is that you work through things together from within and aren’t dictated to by others from without.
If there are questions about Christianity’s background that you can’t answer show that it’s okay to do research on the topic. True Christianity is based on what the Bible says and nothing else. Asking questions is a healthy thing to do!
For many Mormons this is a foreign concept because the Church frowns upon anyone questioning what they say whether it’s right or wrong.
