January 23 — Selling the Book of Mormon Copyright. In 1829 Joseph Smith claimed God told him to send Hiram Page and Oliver Cowdery to Toronto, Canada to sell the copyright of the Book of Mormon.
Interestingly enough, their mission didn’t go the way Smith’s revelation said it would. Smith’s response to their ventures?
“…some revelations are of man: and some revelations are of the devil.”
You can find this in the David Whitmer’s “An Address to All Believers in Christ”, p. 31.
Wouldn’t God have known they wouldn’t sell the copyright?
Why would you trust someone who sends people out on a mission to do something with results like this?
Why would you trust someone who doesn’t know if a revelation is from the devil?
Would you trust this today?
What about Deuteronomy 18:22?
“When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.”
Ask a Mormon if they knew that Smith tried to sell the copyright. Many of the pro-Mormon sites claim that Smith tried to sell the copyright because they were strapped for cash. It’s obvious they didn’t trust the Lord.

[…] Selling the Book of Mormon Copyright […]
If the bom was from God, he would have provided the money for them. They were just out to make money and so deceived. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 for the Mormons.
I just cannot imagine what was going on in their heads. There’s only one way to explain what they were doing and I’m convinced it was as you said. Money.
