The Athanasian Creed

Cross 3This creed was named after Athanasius (293-373 AD) the man who fought tirelessly against attacks on the Trinity by Arian.  Athanasius was the fourth century bishop of Alexandria and while he didn’t write this creed it was written upon the doctrines he fought to keep in the orthodox church.

Cross 3The Nicene Creed, aka the Creed of Constantinople, was written to denounce heresies of the day, in particular Arianism which rejected the divinity of Christ.
