Three days before Christmas I opened a Google-Alert e-mail to read about an all too familiar story in the Herald Extra. AP reporter, Brady McCombs, filed a report on Helen Radkey’s latest discovery of a chronic problem the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints seems to be plagued with. The necromantic practices of baptizing living persons, and posthumously baptizing the famous and infamous dead, is rearing its ugly head once again.

Today a friend alerted me to a post on her Facebook page about a movement that’s getting a fair amount of attention and most importantly; support. There’s a group of people who will be posting a 95 Point LDS Thesis on the doors of Mormon ward buildings on October 31, 2013. They call themselves the Mormon Reformation and their purpose is for the Church to come clean in everything from the top down.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is generally perceived as an authoritarian religious corporation that has a history of squashing dissent. Prominent scholars and low-profile Church members, who have questioned Mormon history or theology, or refused to obey unreasonable Church edicts, have been treated with intolerance by Church leaders. The unwillingness of Mormon officials to recognize and respect differences in opinions or beliefs has resulted in the expulsion of many dissenters from Mormon ranks.

Today I received an incredibly cool e-mail from a researcher and writer based in Salt Lake City that I’ve admired for years now. Her reports have exposed the Church’s practice of posthumous baptisms for the dead even after the Church has publicly announced they’ve stopped.
Helen Radkey sent me a PDF version of her latest report on the inner workings of the Mormon Church’s polygamy endowments that are taking place inside Mormon temples even today.

Today I read my Google alert e-mail informing me of an article in the Washington Post about a reporter at the Salt Lake Tribune (Helen Radkey) being a source of contention for the Mitt Romney campaign.
I’m always intrigued when Ms. Radkey publishes any article because it’s usually an eye-opener for those who want the latest news on what the Mormon Church is doing behind the scenes. She seems to have an uncanny way of rooting things out and sharing her findings with the public.
Anyone or anything that disagrees with the LDS Church is considered anti-Mormon. Yet, the Church considers themselves to be a Christian church.
