 September 24 — The Mormons have added a new song to their hymnal by President Russel M. Nelson. In his song, he praises their god, using KJV English repeatedly. I may never understand why Mormons choose to speak like this in their prayers or songs. I guess they believe it makes them sound holy and reverent.

In his song, he refers to Jesus as an “Exemplar”, then goes on to call him the “atoning son”, “who gave Himself as sacred ransom”. I wrote something not long ago when Elder Quentin L. Cook referred to him as our exemplar.

During my research for this article, I discovered a Relief Society Visiting Teaching Message titled “The Divine Mission of Jesus Christ: Exemplar.” If they mean to say Jesus is their example, why don’t they just say that? (more…)
