Lying for the Lord
Inside the Mind of Joseph Smith: Psychobiography and the Book of Mormon, Introduction p. xliii f28; “My duty as a member of the Council of the Twelve is to protect what is most unique about the LDS church, namely the authority of priesthood, testimony regarding the restoration of the gospel, and the divine mission of the Savior. Everything may be sacrificed in order to maintain the integrity of those essential facts. Thus, if Mormon Enigma reveals information that is detrimental to the reputation of Joseph Smith, then it is necessary to try to limit its influence and that of its authors.” – Robert Anderson
Proverbs 12:22; “Lying lips are abomination to the Lord: but they that deal truly are his delight.”
In other words it’s okay not to tell or reveal the whole truth, right? Mormon Enigma was a book written by Emma Smith after Joseph died. Her reviews of Brigham Young were less than favorable. What is so sad is how the Church has to be on guard at all times to refute anyone who says anything contrary to what they publish. What a tangled web.
