For the past five years I’ve prayed for the salvation of those who are trapped in the Mormon religion. I’ve thought about what it would be like for the prophet to get up and deliver a message like the one below. To call all the church members to repentance, and to say that the church is going to abandon all its past sins, arrogance, and beliefs for Jesus and from here on after the members are to put their complete trust in Him alone.
It could be said that it’s very naive of me to think such a way and to entertain such fanciful notions, but I do. I want the Mormons to be saved; I want them to seek the deep abounding joy the gospel of Jesus Christ has to offer instead of the fleeting “happiness” the Mormon gospel gives them based on their works righteous system.
During this Conference Mormons will hear a lot about the importance of regular temple attendance, doing good works, along with all they must do to receive the “blessings” their god has to offer. In essence they’ll hear something to the effect of you do your best and Jesus will do the rest. This is a far cry from what I’ve been taught as a Christian which is Jesus has done it all, and now works in you so you do your best for the glory of God.
One of the reasons Mormons get so wrapped up in General Conference is the announcement of new temples locations all around the world. The thing is Mormons; Jesus told us that “something so much greater than the temple is here” (Mathew 12:6). The work for your salvation doesn’t begin and end in the temple, it begins and ends with Jesus and the work He did on the cross. I ask that you listen to the podcast below and pray that you’ll see what’s missing in the messages you heard at Conference.
And I ask that our Christian friends join me in prayer this weekend as I pray for the Mormons watching General Conference this week.
