Jesus is God
Adam Who is He, pg 58; “Christ is God – the Creator – and with his Father is the greatest of all. But Adam stands next to him, and never let that be forgotten.” – Mark E. Petersen
Isaiah 9:6; “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
Well I would agree that Christ is indeed God and He’s the Creator. Funny thing is, Mormonism doesn’t align itself with those two things. They believe Jesus is the God of this earth (see 2 Cor. 4:4) and they don’t believe God created this earth. They believe He only had the power to organize its elements, not create it out of nothing (Abraham 4:25).
And lastly, I don’t have a clue as to where they got the idea Adam stands next to Jesus in the whole scheme of things.
I Cor 4: 4 ? or is that 2 Cor 4: 4?

Sorry! It’s 2 Cor 4:4!
I think the idea may come from the fact that Adam was given command over every living thing. He was essentially made by the breath of life given by God. He had dominion and could walk in the presence of the lord. Spiritually speaking, he held a key to the gate, and we know that Jesus holds all the keys. I have heard him referred to as the second Adam, but do not really see it like that. The Mormons believe that God is Adam, so that is a little different.
Michelle – I remember when I was “arguing” with the Bishop of my Ward over the phone about getting my name taken off the church membership records. I was “debating” the finer points of there being only one God and how He is manifest in 3 distinct personalities. He (bishop) probably quoted Joseph Smith about some “3-headed god”.
I remeber it like this…
Me: “There is only one God, Isaiah 9:6, unto us a child is born… and He will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (I paraphrased what I could over the phone)
Bishop: “Yes, he will be CALLED all of those names, doesn’t mean that he is all of those things”
Me: “Don’t you see, Jesus is God?!”
Bishop: “Yes, he is the god of this world”…
(Right then, 2 Cor. 4:4 popped into my head, I didn’t really know the verse number, but I knew that Satan is referred to as “the god of this world”).
Me: “Whoa… look, just take my name off the records, I am going to follow Jesus, not Joseph”…
Bishop: “Taking your name off the membership record won’t matter, once a Mormon, always a Mormon”.
Me: “I am a Christian”… click.
