Jeremiah 23:32; “Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams, saith the LORD, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their lightness; yet I sent them not, nor commanded them: therefore they shall not profit this people at all, saith the LORD.”
When we look at all the contradictions and false prophecies of Joseph and company it’s interesting to note there’s a few of them that have uncanny coincidences.
Three BoM Witnesses Leave the Church
History of the Church 3:232; “Such characters as McLellin, John Whitmer, David Whitmer, Oliver Cowdery, and Martin Harris, are too mean to mention; and we had liked to have forgotten them.”
Three Days of Darkness at Jesus’ Death
Helaman 14:20; “But behold, as I said unto you concerning another sign, a sign of his death, behold, in that day that he shall suffer death the sun shall be darkened and refuse to give his light unto you; and also the moon and the stars; and there shall be no light upon the face of this land, even from the time that he shall suffer death, for the space of three days, to the time that he shall rise again from the dead.”
Three Apostles Never Die?
D&C 7:7; “And I will make thee [Peter] to minister for him [John] and for thy brother James; and unto you three I will give this power and the keys of this ministry until I come.”
Three Nephites Never Die
3 Nephi 28:25; “Behold, I was about to write the names of those who were never to taste of death, but the Lord forbade; therefore I write them not, for they are hid from the world.”
The false prophecy of the 3 witnesses we posted on yesterday is what prompted me to think on the other sets of false prophecies.
As for the passage in D&C 7:7, the debate is undecided amongst those who know Mormonism. It’s been looked at that none of the three in that verse died, while others think it was meant that only John wouldn’t die. Nevertheless, the whole thing is a false prophecy.
As for the other false prophecies –
The sky was darkened for three hours, not three days! – Luke 23:44.
If three Nephites were still roaming around there couldn’t possibly be a total apostasy over the earth as Joseph Smith claimed in his testimony (Joseph Smith’s History 1:19)!
Why didn’t they warn people?
Why didn’t we get their names?
