Grafting in Whom?
1 Nephi 10:14; “And after the house of Israel should be scattered they should be gathered together again; or, in fine, after the Gentiles had received the fulness of the Gospel, the natural branches of the olive-tree, or the remnants of the house of Israel, should be grafted in, or come to the knowledge of the true Messiah, their Lord and their Redeemer.”
Romans 11:17-18, 21; “And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert grafted in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree. 18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee. 21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.”
How could the Nephites be grafted in if they’re already part of the tree? Paul said the unbelieving Israelites would be cut off the tree at the root and burned. The Gentiles were the people who’d be grafted in – not the Nephites!
