Gospel Ideals, pg 468; “Any effort or desire on the part of a married couple to shirk the responsibility of parenthood reflects a condition of mind antagonistic to the best interests of the home, the state, and the nation. No doubt there are some worldly people who honestly limit the number of children and the family to two or three because of insufficient means to clothe and educate a large family as the parents would desire to do, but in nearly all such cases, the two or three children are no better provided for than two or three times that number would be. Such parents may be sincere, even if misguided; but in most cases the desire not to have children has its birth in vanity, passion, and selfishness.” – Prophet David O. McKay
Matthew 22:36-40; “Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”
Basic common sense tells me this is false! If I only have $100 to feed three kids for the month they’re going to be fed more nutritious meals than if there were nine of them.
It’s irresponsible to have kids just because the leader of your church said you must do so. This is a matter between two responsible adults in a marriage (husband and wife) and the Lord and vanity on the part of a thoughtful couple is not the issue here!
Again, this goes back to the theory that sex for salvation is a false teaching and not from God!
