God’s Love is Conditional
Ensign, “Divine Love”, Feb. 2003, page 20; “The full flower of divine love and our greatest blessings from that love are conditional-predicated upon our obedience to eternal law. I pray that we may qualify for those blessings and rejoice forever.” – Apostle Russell M. Nelson
Romans 5:8; “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
1 Timothy 2:4-6; “Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; 6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.”
If receiving God’s love is predicated upon our behavior we’re all in a world of hurt, especially me!
Jesus died regardless of our behavior and regardless of how many would accept His Father’s invitation to receive forgives of sins and eternal life.
He already knew who would and wouldn’t accept Him and He’s given every single person on earth the opportunity to accept or reject His Son. Do you tell your kids “hey buddy if you’re not up to my standards you’re out”? Is this how you parent your own children? No, of course not! You love your kids even when they make mistakes or make choices you wouldn’t necessarily make.
Nothing I have or could possibly do in life would match up to the incredible gift He’s given to me.
