http://www.lds.org; “Under the direction of Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ created the heavens
and the earth (see Mosiah 3:8; Moses 2:1). From scripture revealed through the Prophet
Joseph Smith, we know that in the work of the Creation, the Lord organized elements
that had already existed (see Abraham 3:24). He did not create the world “out of
nothing,” as some people believe.”
Genesis 1:1; “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth”.
2 Peter 3:5-6; “For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: 6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished”.
Just as in the days of Peter, Joseph was merely the latest of his day in a long line of naysayers who rejected God and what He did through creation and the flood.
If God didn’t create the earth ex nihilo then what did Paul mean when he said that Jesus created the earth in Colossians 1:15-16? What did God mean when Moses revealed that God created the earth out of nothing in Genesis?
