Holy Temple, pg 213; “Each a Savior…We cannot know the full outcome of our efforts. We are commanded to bring the gospel message to the living, and to make provision for ordinance work to be performed for those who have died. We do not know how many of them will be redeemed in the celestial kingdom. We only make it possible for those to progress who can qualify.
It might be likened to putting spiritual resources in a bank to be held in escrow under the name of an ancestor. When and how much he will be eligible to withdraw and claim we do not know. We just know that we are to provide the account for the use of the worthy.” – Boyd K. Packer
Ecclesiastes 9:5; “For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.”
Oh my.
Where in the Bible…
Does God say we’re building up an escrow-type account to w/draw spiritual blessing from when we get to heaven?
Does God say we’re “each a savior” as the title of the chapter says?
Does God say we need to baptize dead people or does He say today is the day of salvation?
Does God say that families are forever?
Everything this Mr. Packer has said is diametrically opposed to what God has said. Whom do you believe? – 2 Tim 1:12
