Encyclopedia of Mormonism; “Jesus Christ is the God of the whole earth and invites all nations and people to come unto him…”
2 Cor 4:4-5; “In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. 5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.”
The LDS Church’s description of Jesus above is but a snippet of all the things they stated about our Lord. They went on to say that He came here to tell people about Mormonism and spoke with the Nephites, etc, but today we’re looking at one phrase they used in this description.
The Christian who knows the word of God should immediately hone in on the phrase “god of the earth”, and know this refers to Satan, not Jesus! The very hairs on the back of your neck should bristle at the insinuation this is a proper way to describe our Lord Jesus.
Jesus is the Creator of the whole universe, and Creator of all things. The Jesus of the Bible is never referred to as “the god of the whole earth”. NEVER. The words world, and/or earth, signifies “time”(the Greek word for this is “aion”). It can also be referred to as sin, and man’s evil ways. For instance, see 1 John 4:4-5; “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. 5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.”
John 15:18-19; “If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. 19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.”
Romans 8:19-25 states the trouble we’re in while being on earth and/or in the world. We’re groaning to be with our Creator who can free us from the bondage we’re ensnared in here.
Is Jesus the god of this bondage?
