A Ministry of Meetings: The Apostolic Diaries of Rudger Clawson, p 84; “A letter from Geo. D. Pyper, Sec. Sunday School Union, was read by the clerk. He reported that the Sunday School board was contemplating the propriety of publishing some cards with the Lord’s Prayer printed on them. A question, however, had arisen as to whether Joseph Smith’s version or the Bible version should be adopted. The difference in the two versions, he said, was this. In the Bible version it says, “Lead us not into temptation” [Matthew 6:13]; in Joseph’s version, “Suffer us not to be led into temptation.” After some discussion, it was decided to leave the matter open until the First Presidency should all be present with the Twelve to take action”. – Edited by Stan Larson, Signature Books, 1993
Matthew 6:13; “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen”.
Well if this isn’t an oxymoron I don’t know what is.
Lead us not into temptation…from what? Rewriting God’s word? Lying to people about the Lord? Denying Christ? Believing you can become a god? What temptation are we talking about?
If the beloved prophet was inspired of God why are they having a meeting to determine whether or not they should utilize his prophetic skills?
