Matthew 24:35; “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.”

According to Mormonism, a job requirement for the president of the Church is fulfilling the duties of a translator.

D&C 107:91 – 92; “And again, the duty of the President of the office of the High Priesthood…to be a seer, a revelator, a translator, and a prophet…” (Also see Mormon Doctrine, p. 591)

Joseph Smith Translation - JSTWe’ve seen many documents and books Mr. Smith translated in his short life, but one of his projects didn’t receive the same fanfare and accolades his other works have enjoyed. Considering the magnitude of this project with its potential effects and ramifications, one has to wonder what the holdup is all about, and why the Church hasn’t lauded the praise of the prophetic skills, and translating abilities of their beloved prophet.

Mormon Decisions 10A Ministry of Meetings: The Apostolic Diaries of Rudger Clawson, p 84; “A letter from Geo. D. Pyper, Sec. Sunday School Union, was read by the clerk. He reported that the Sunday School board was contemplating the propriety of publishing some cards with the Lord’s Prayer printed on them. A question, however, had arisen as to whether Joseph Smith’s version or the Bible version should be adopted. The difference in the two versions, he said, was this. In the Bible version it says, “Lead us not into temptation” [Matthew 6:13]; in Joseph’s version, “Suffer us not to be led into temptation.” After some discussion, it was decided to leave the matter open until the First Presidency should all be present with the Twelve to take action”.  – Edited by Stan Larson, Signature Books, 1993

Old-Testament-Gospel-Doctrine-Teachers-Manual-35570000The focus of this next lesson is how the Mormons can “hold fast to righteous standards during times of increased wickedness.”

It’s not hard for anyone to see the corruption and moral decay all around us, the recent Grammys is proof that. More and more people are accepting the things of the world as being truth, and dismissing the things of God as being not relatable to the times we live in.

December 21 – Mark 15:17 & Exodus 26:31; “And they clothed him with purple, and platted a crown of thorns, and put it about his head. – “And thou shalt make a veil of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen of cunning work: with cherubims shall it be made.”

_____

Today we have a  hodgepodge of items to share with the Mormon in your life.

Josephus reported the inner veil which was rent in two was four inches thick and horses that were tied to each side couldn’t pull it apart.  The veil represented many things but two of them are; the body of Christ being torn and broken; and its color of purple which signified royalty.

Sadly,  the Jews kept offering sacrifices in the temple for another 40 years after the crucifixion.  Ask the Mormon what he knows about the veil and the crucifixion.  Ask him if he knows that we now have direct access to God and how radical of an idea this must have been to the Israelites at that time!  Now while the Mormon “scripture” that is quoted here today isn’t about the veil, ask them what it means when the Bible said, “Jesus knew that all things were accomplished” and “It is finished”.  This is from the Joseph Smith Translation of the Bible so they can’t use the excuse that it wasn’t translated correctly, right?

“After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.  Now there was a vessel full of vinegar, mingled with gall, and they filled a sponge with it, and put upon hyssop, and put to his mouth.  When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished; and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.”  JST John 19:28.
