Female GarmentsGarments of Salvation v. Temple Garments

 February 18 – God dresses us through Christ Jesus in the garments of salvation He spoke of in Isaiah 61:10; “I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels”.

November 23 – 2 Thessalonians 2:13; “But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth.”

Old-Testament-Gospel-Doctrine-Teachers-Manual-35570000Lesson 19 centers around the battles in the book of Judges. It highlights the challenges Barak and Deborah had as they free Israel from the Canaanites, Gideon’s command to deliver Israel from the Midianites, and Samson’s failure to live up to the vows he made as a Nazarene.

Old-Testament-Gospel-Doctrine-Teachers-Manual-35570000As with most of their lessons this next one has a tiny bit of truth mixed in with a whole bunch of nonsense, I hope to adequately address both in the following paragraphs. The premise of lesson 9 centers on sacrifice, it gives a biblical account of Abraham’s attempt to sacrifice Isaac and touches on this being a similitude of God’s willingness to sacrifice Jesus.

Old-Testament-Gospel-Doctrine-Teachers-Manual-35570000The focus of this next lesson is how the Mormons can “hold fast to righteous standards during times of increased wickedness.”

It’s not hard for anyone to see the corruption and moral decay all around us, the recent Grammys is proof that. More and more people are accepting the things of the world as being truth, and dismissing the things of God as being not relatable to the times we live in.

Mormon Decisions 10Journal of Discourses 8:179; “Do you query why we give endowments to A., B., and C? It is to make devils of those who will deny the faith, for that is also necessary, as a host of devils will be needed. We also want Saints, angels, holy ones, and those that are exalted to the highest glory—we want them to inherit kingdoms that number millions on millions.” – Brigham Young, Salt Lake City, September 9, 1860

Temple Garments Protect Members

Mormon Decisions 10Letter of the First Presidency, October 10, 1988; “The promise of protection and blessings is conditional upon worthiness and faithfulness in keeping the covenant. Members of the Church wear the garment as a reminder of the scared covenants they have made with the Lord and also as a protection against temptation and evil. How it is worn is an outward expression of an inward commitment to follow the Savior.”

Mortal Messiah 2:294; “From the beginning the garments of the saints have enjoyed a special and sacred place in true worship. They cover that nakedness which when exposed leads to lewd and lascivious conduct. They stand as a symbol of modesty and decency and are a constant reminder to true believers of the restraints and controls placed by a divine providence upon their acts.”

Mormon Plan of Happiness

The other day I came across a couple of verses in Hebrews 4:12-13 from a Christian blog I was reading (http://doesthebible.wordpress.com)

The verses say;

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

July 29 – Luke 18:9-14; “And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: 10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.  11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.  12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. 13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

November 12 – Genesis 3:17; “And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life.”

_____
The doctrine of God is that Jesus is God incarnate and we should obey Him, there are no hidden agendas with God and no hidden meanings. If you love Him, obey Him. Because of the fall, the ground became cursed and worse yet there came a separation of God and man. They were kicked out of the Garden and an enmity was placed between God and us. The Mormons would have you believe that this was a glorious event. Nothing could be further from the truth!  What kind of God would allow sin to be part of His plan if heaven is perfect?

“The doctrine of Adam is the doctrine of Eve; their mission and purpose are one. “As she was at Michael’s side before the foundations of the earth,” wrote Elder Bruce R. McConkie, “so she came with him into Eden.” Together they performed the mission of the Fall, making the probation of life available to all. Chosen as the first wife and the first mother, her role in the salvation of their posterity is as vital as his. She is Adam’s counterpart and his crown. She is our glorious mother. With Adam she was set at the head to mark the way.” Joseph Fielding McConkie and Robert L. Millet, eds., The Man Adam [Salt Lake City: Bookcraft, 1990], 85 – 88.
