The Women of Mormondom, pp. 198-199; “The fall is simple. Our immortal parents came down to fall…came down to give birth to mortal tabernacles for a world of spirits. … Eve, then, came down to be the Mother of a world…capable of dying at the very beginning to give life to her offspring, that through mortality the eternal life of the Gods might be given … She was…The first person in the trinity of Mothers.”
Joshua 23:6-8; “Be ye therefore very courageous to keep and to do all that is written in the book of the law of Moses, that ye turn not aside therefrom to the right hand or to the left; 7 That ye come not among these nations, these that remain among you; neither make mention of the name of their gods, nor cause to swear by them, neither serve them, nor bow yourselves unto them: 8 But cleave unto the LORD your God, as ye have done unto this day.”

Today we’re looking at events that take place in the LDS Temple Endowment Ceremony when Eve was tempted by Lucifer to partake of the fruit of the tree of knowledge.
We’ve listed the script below and then we’ll ask some questions –

As you may already know, April and October are Conference months for the Mormon Church. For one weekend in each of these months various church leaders, from every organization in the Church give talks to their fellow church members via satellite, the internet, or in person at the Conference Center in Salt Lake City, UT. For the months of November and May the Visiting Teachers in the Church are to scan the General Conferences talks in the Ensign (a Church publication) for one that catches their eye, and use it as their message to the women they visit that month.

For part three of my discussion on the questions asked during the interview process before one becomes a member of the Mormon faith I’ll be focusing on the third and fourth questions.
This set of questions has to do with the Mormons view of repentance and what they consider the more “serious sins”.

March 13 – Gen. 3:24; “So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubim’s, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life”.

Next to John 3:16, the Genesis scripture should be at the forefront of every believer’s mind. Man was separated from God, thus the need for John 3:16. It was not God’s intention for this to happen. He knew it would happen, but it doesn’t mean that He willed it to happen. The Mormon believes man had to sin in order to know joy, sadness and to even procreate. They believe this sin commandment came from God.

November 12 – Genesis 3:17; “And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life.”

The doctrine of God is that Jesus is God incarnate and we should obey Him, there are no hidden agendas with God and no hidden meanings. If you love Him, obey Him. Because of the fall, the ground became cursed and worse yet there came a separation of God and man. They were kicked out of the Garden and an enmity was placed between God and us. The Mormons would have you believe that this was a glorious event. Nothing could be further from the truth! What kind of God would allow sin to be part of His plan if heaven is perfect?

“The doctrine of Adam is the doctrine of Eve; their mission and purpose are one. “As she was at Michael’s side before the foundations of the earth,” wrote Elder Bruce R. McConkie, “so she came with him into Eden.” Together they performed the mission of the Fall, making the probation of life available to all. Chosen as the first wife and the first mother, her role in the salvation of their posterity is as vital as his. She is Adam’s counterpart and his crown. She is our glorious mother. With Adam she was set at the head to mark the way.” Joseph Fielding McConkie and Robert L. Millet, eds., The Man Adam [Salt Lake City: Bookcraft, 1990], 85 – 88.
