Encyclopedia of Mormonism, p 461; “In giving a blessing the patriarch may declare our lineage-that is, that we are of Israel, therefore of the family of Abraham, and of a specific tribe of Jacob. In the great majority of cases, Latter-day Saints are of the tribe of Ephraim, the tribe to which has been committed the leadership of the Latter-day work. Whether this lineage is of blood or adoption it does not matter” (p. 73; cf. Abr. 2:10).”
Genesis 41:45,50-52; “And Pharaoh called Joseph’s name Zaphnath-paaneah; and he gave him to wife Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On. And Joseph went out over all the land of Egypt. 50 And unto Joseph were born two sons before the years of famine came, which Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On bare unto him. 51 And Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh: For God, said he, hath made me forget all my toil, and all my father’s house. 52 And the name of the second called he Ephraim: For God hath caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction.”
Today we’re going to do a little review –
According to God’s word and even LDS canon, we have learned that the tribe of Ephraim came through Joseph’s Egyptian wife. Interestingly enough whenever the Church bestows a patriarchal blessing upon a member it’s usually revealed to them that they’re from the tribe of Ephraim.
In light of all this we have a few questions –
LDS canon unabashedly declares that black people, and specifically those from Egypt, can’t hold the priesthood because of their sin.
Abraham 1:27; “Now, Pharaoh being of that lineage by which he could not have the right of Priesthood, notwithstanding the Pharaohs would fain claim it from Noah, through Ham, therefore my father was led away by their idolatry.”
Now if the descendants of Joseph, aka the Ephraimites, have been cursed why pray tell is the Church bestowing blessings upon the heads of church members who are supposedly descendants of Joseph’s son Ephraim?
Because the Church did a 180° turnabout in 1978 and decided to allow blacks into the Church, why doesn’t church canon reflect God’s change of heart?
If you’re LDS do you realize that the priesthood isn’t held by anyone from the tribe of Ephraim?
Even if the priesthood was still on earth today do you realize that you’d be ineligible to hold a priesthood because you’re not from the tribe of Levi?
If you’re LDS what are your thoughts on the speech given by Mr. Petersen listed below?
Race Problems, as they affect the Church, August 27, 1954; “We must not intermarry with the Negro. Why? If I were to marry a Negro woman and have children by her, my children would all be cursed as to the Priesthood. Do I want my children cursed as to the priesthood? If there is one drop of Negro blood in my children, as I have read to you, they receive the curse….There isn’t any argument, therefore, as to inter-marriage with the Negro, is there? There are 50 million Negroes in the United States. If they were to achieve complete absorption with the white race, think what that would do. With 50 million Negroes inter-married with us, where would the Priesthood be? Who could hold it, in all America? Think what that would do to the work of the Church!” – Mark Petersen
