Gospel Doctrine, p 139, 159; “WHAT IS THE PRIESTHOOD? It is nothing more nor less than the power of God delegated to man by which man can act in the earth for the salvation of the human family…and act legitimately; not assuming that authority, nor borrowing it from generations that are dead and gone…
…MANY HOLD THE MELCHIZEDEK PRIESTHOOD…the Church…is not confined to one man, nor to three men, nor to fifteen men, but that there are thousands of men in Zion who hold the Melchizedek Priesthood, which is after the order of the Son of God, and who possess keys of authority and power to minister for life and salvation among the people of the world.” – Joseph F. Smith
Hebrews 10:10-14; “By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. 11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: 12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of God; 13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. 14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.”
Generations that are dead and gone…
Wow, where in the Bible does it say that Jesus is dead?
Why have they rejected what God has provided through Abraham, Isaac and Jacob?
What is a Mormon’s response to Hebrews 10:10?
Who’s the one doing the saving in this LDS doctrine? Is it the Church or Jesus?
If the Church is the sole savior for mankind why do they call themselves Christians?
Where in the Bible does it say God gave the authority to preach and hold the priesthood to anyone or any organization after His Son Jesus fulfilled that role?
While there are many other questions that could be explored with this topic, for today I’m suggesting we use those few questions and pray. Pray the Lord would open the door for you to share this doctrine with a Mormon today and tell them what God has to say about it in His word.
