The Teachings of Ezra Taft Benson, p. 595; “The coming forth of the Constitution is of such transcendent importance in the Lord’s plan that ancient prophets foresaw this event and prophesied of it… The Constitution fulfilled the ancient prophecy of Isaiah [2:3] that ‘out of Zion shall go forth the law.’” — Ezra Taft Benson
Isaiah 2:3; “And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.”
Really?
If this wasn’t so tragic it’d be laughable. Good grief people! When the Church tells members the teachings/doctrines that are taught by past prophets are sometimes just their opinions, then why do they publish them in books like this?
Look, I love America and have no problem displaying flags and other memorabilia to show my patriotism. It’s important and it’s important that we teach these traditions to the next generation so they can know how to appreciate what God has blessed us with.
However, America wasn’t prophesied about by Isaiah, let alone anyone else in the Bible.
On more than one occasion, I’ve heard Mormon front-man Glen Beck, blubbering and gushing that the US Constitution was “scripture.” If anyone with even mediocre ability honestly compared the Constitution with, oh, let’s say – the Book of Romans – he would have to give precedence to the Bible. Even Unitarian John Adams knew that!
