General Conference, ‘The Joy of Redeeming the Dead’, Oct 2012; “Do you young people want a sure way to eliminate the influence of the adversary in your life? Immerse yourself in searching for your ancestors, prepare their names for the sacred vicarious ordinances available in the temple, and then go to the temple to stand as proxy for them to receive the ordinances of baptism and the gift of the Holy Ghost. […] I can think of no greater protection from the influence of the adversary in your life.” — Richard G. Scott
Galatians 5:22-24; “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. 24 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.”
Ephesians 6:10-12; “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
All Christians know about the fruit of the Spirit. We know that if we’re experiencing spiritual warfare we need to get into His word, study and pray. We need to surround ourselves with other Christians who know His word and can provide insight as to what God says about any situation.
Seeking comfort by performing works for the dead in a temple not designed after the specifications of what God ordained is inviting demonic influences into your life!
1.It’s necromancy.
2.It’s rejecting what God did when Jesus was crucified.
The Bible tells us to put on the armor of God to be protected from the evil one so why would our works do that if the Bible says otherwise?
Furthermore, why isn’t the Church telling members the same thing Paul told early believers? Why are they touting a completely different system with no mention of the Bible at all?
I posted our PASTOR’S sermon on one of my blogs. You can read it here:
https://compendum.wordpress.com/
It is written on the Gospel message about Jesus casting out demons. One of the things that Pastor writes is about the angels that protect us. The other is about going where Jesus is to feel close to your departed relatives. (You really need to read the whole sermon to get the context.)
Read Hebrews 12:22-24 also. This is a wonderful picture of us worshipping now on earth with the people and angels in Heaven at the same time. There are several places in Bible with this.
Conversely, there are many, clear warnings about the dead and evil spirits in the Bible. What the LDS teaches is of Satan and his demons; what the Bible teaches is of God. The Holy Spirit is the cleanest Spirit there is.
So, don’t go there to baptize the dead or believe in anything of this type of teaching. It allows demons to enter your life and shuts out the Holy Spirit.
It’s a very serious error to follow the LDS teaching of this sort.
We are here to warn you and encourage Bible reading for the truth. Only pure joy is found in our Jesus of the Bible
Since my background is entirely Norse – I doubt my pagan, Viking ancestors could help me in any way. LOL
And nor could any of my current relations it seems –
