Millennial Star, Vol. 15, No. 13, March 28, 1853, p. 206; “Orson Hyde’s blessing –
Oliver Cowdery called upon the lord to smile upon him that his faith shall be made perfect and that the blessings pronounced shall be realized lie shall be made mighty and be endued with power from on high and go forth to the nations of the earth to proclaim the gospel that he shall escape all the pollutions of the world the angels shall uphold him and that he shall go forth according to the commandment both to Jew and Gentile and shall go to all nations kingdoms and tongues all who hear ban his voice shall acknowledge him to be a servant of God he shall be equal in holding the keys of the kingdom he shall stand on the earth and bring souls till Christ comes we know that he loves thee and may this thy servant be able to walk through pestilence and not be harmed the powers of darkness shall have no ascendancy over him he shall have power to smite the earth with pestilence to divide waters and lead through the saints he shall go from land to land and from sea to sea he shall be like one of the three Nephites.”
Matthew 7:21-23; “Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”
Wow. Where do we start?
There are numerous false prophecies listed in this diatribe!
1.This excerpt from the Millennial Star is part of the original prophecy given to the LDS apostles when they were ordained. The rewrite is found in the History of the Church Vol. 2 we looked at the other day with Heber Kimball’s blessing. The problem in the HC rendition is that it’s a rewrite. They took the liberty to change words from ‘shall’ to ‘may’, indicating the prophecies may or may not actually happen.
In the original writing, they made no insinuation these things might not happen, thus our using the reference above.
2.Orson Hyde died on November 28, 1858, (Church Chronology) and therefore, won’t be here to see Christ’s return, nor will he be leading souls to Christ until then.
3.There’s no record of Hyde smiting the earth with pestilence.
4.Hyde can’t be like one of the Nephites who never died.
