August 10 – Numbers 23:19; “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?”

The Bible is explicit with descriptions of who God is and isn’t. It never leaves any room for doubt or second-guessing. Throughout the entire 66 books it tells us that God is not a man. The Mormon Church is very plain in this example below that they do indeed worship a different god than we do.

In a book entitled Behold the Lamb of God, pg. 168, J. Reuben Clark, Jr. says;
‘The great Christian sects of the world declare a belief in a God “without body, parts, or passions…But this is not the God of the Latter-day Saints; nor are these the attributes of him they worship…The Latter-day Saints declare that such a being is not the God of Adam, Noah, and Enoch, nor of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; that it is not the God that made Israel his covenant people, nor that led Israel dryshod through the Red Sea; that it is not he who guided the wanderings in the wilderness, nor that traced upon stone, amidst the thunders of Sinai, the great moral law of the world.’
“…But this is not the God of the Latter-day Saints; nor are these the attributes of him they worship..”
Can’t be plainer and clearer than that!
I also wonder why they don’t testify of their god being an exalted man or testify of Joseph Smith being a polygamist or Jesus being the brother of Lucifer…if they’re going to talk and testify of their church shouldn’t those things be included as well?

Yes, I agree! These are ‘hidden’ from the people as I read now. Later, a little at a time, the people find it out IF they explore the history, etc. Some people now pick and choose what they want to take from Mormonism, as Ed said in a blog post. Some people don’t know much and have been going awhile. It’s confusing.
I recall a recent YouTube video where a man interviewed a Mormon outside the conference building. He said in effect that he never heard this or that his church doesn’t teach that.
Their PR campaign is to sound and look like a Christian Denomination. As a result, they aren’t going to say too much about these items in their doctrine. It now requires us to pray in that direction. in reading many testamonies of ex-Mormons, I’ve come to see that many searched and researched LDS writings to find a shred of truth.
Only when more start questioning, will the walls come tumbling down faster.
The LDS wants to prevent this but it won’t be able to as the power of God is much stonger.
Agreed… what kind of “advertising campaign” would that be if they “laid it all out” for the public to see? Could you imagine if the missionaries told “prospectives” that before they could be baptized, they had to read the complete set of “Journal of Discourses”, “History of the Church”, “Joseph Smith History”, “Mormon Doctrine” (1966 edition), “the Miracle of Frogiveness”, “Doctrine&Covenants”, and “the Pearl of Great Price”….
Since I left the LDS church, I have attended numerous Christian churches in 7 different states. Not once did I find out something about those churches, or what they believed, after the fact.
When we move, the first thing we do is see if there is a “Calvary Chapel” fellowship in the area. We do this because we know that they teach only from the Bible without any extra-Biblical, man-made rules. (The first non-LDS church service I ever attended was at a Calvary Chapel in Southern California and that is where I gave my life to Jesus).
Still, no matter what fellowship we decide to “check out” the first thing I do is ask them for a “statement of faith”. If they have anything that does not line up with the Word of God, we are “outta there”…
We have been blessed with being able to stay in the area we are now for 3 years… We have attended the same non-denominational church here in town for those 3 years. Not once has there been even a hint of something that was “swept under the rug” nor have we been told “that was in the past” or “that isn’t official church scripture or doctrine”…. Because the questions that would produce those answers have never been asked, because everyting is laid out there in the open…
There is so much freedom and life to the fullest when there aren’t any “nagging questions” about ones belief. Just because something is “sacred” doesn’t mean that it is “secret”. The temple rituals in Israel were the most sacred of all things on earth… yet, God provided in great detail what the temple was to look like on the inside, how to make the implements and furniture that were to be used inside, and exactly what was to be done inside… even inside the Holiest of Holies, which is where the presence of God was.
Exactly! That is the correct way to locate a church-check out the statement or creed first. Yes, nothing is hidden in God’s eyes. Nothing secret and it is all out for us to read, hear, and see. Great post, Camden!
Thanks Susan… when something is “exclusive” that means certain people are “left out”. God desires that ALL will come to repentance and acceptance of His finished work on the cross…
