Church News, ‘Family History Blesses the Living as Well as the Dead,’ 24 February 2015;
“Building the family is at the center of the plan of salvation, the leaders taught. On the other side of the veil, individuals will be organized into families through ordinances that take place in temples. Because of the importance of those ordinances, it is essential that families work together to redeem their dead. Through modern technology advances family history has improved, allowing people of all ages to get involved with ease.”
Mark 12:27; “He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err.”
Luke 12:27-28; “Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 28 If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?”
Mormons have been tricked into believing they must busy themselves with things that don’t pertain to them. The dead are long gone, yet Mormon leaders guilt adherents into believing lies.
We have no power to change things once life is over – God has always said you live once and then it’s done. Hebrews 9:27 says after death is judgment. There are no second chances, no matter how the Church tries to spin the story. Also consider 2 Corinthians 6:2b; “…behold, now is the day of salvation.”
One of the things we found odd in Mr. Packer’s statement was when he said, ‘on the other side of the veil individuals will be organized into families through ordinances’. Can you just imagine this?
So, if you haven’t completed great-grandma’s ordinances, it’s back to bottom kingdom for her? Come now. Since when did God need a filing system to keep organized?
The Lord’s admonition in Luke’s gospel is yet another reminder for us to free ourselves from everything prohibiting our adoration of Him who paid the price. God has it under control, and sees each one of us the moment we’re conceived. If you don’t believe this my friend, you’re worshiping the wrong god.
Hi there,
Another verse you could add to your listing is:
Psalm 49:7-9
No man can by any means redeem his brother
Or give to God a ransom for him—
For the redemption of his soul is costly,
And he should cease trying forever—
That he should live on eternally,
That he should not undergo decay.
We can’t even save ourselves — let alone anyone else… Only our personal faith in Jesus can save… Only Jesus is worthy enough to save…
Thank you for posting… Have a great day.
Margaret
Hi Margaret!
Thanks so much for posting! It was kind of you to take the time to share your insight – this is good stuff! And thanks for the reminder in Psalm 49 – it’s always amazing to me how many times the Lord tells us the basics. He doesn’t just tell us the important things once or twice, but repeatedly so we’ll get the message. This is good for folks like myself who sometimes need more than a couple of reminders. 🙂
Michelle
Hi Michelle,
Like you said, the Lord tells us the basics many times in so many ways… God really has a wonderful way of teaching us… He knows very well that we need all sorts of reminders, so He lovingly gives them… Guess that’s because He made us and knows all our thoughts and feelings… It’s comforting to know how greatly He loves us as He watches over us in our various struggles… It’s like us watching our kids grow up… They are always our little ones — even when they’re grown up.

Hi Michelle,
I don’t know how else to get ahold of you, so will try this from my gmail comment of last year. I go to your site every day, via my Favorites on IE. So often I get script errors on your site and have to close out with a ctr/alt/delete. I get this on other conservative Christian sites also — and usually on ones that are a .com or .org. I took a print screen of today’s dialog and can send it to you, if you want. But think you need to check with WP about settings on your .com site.
Anyway, thank you for posting on this very important problem and we pray that many will see the light.
Love, Margaret
Hi Margaret! You know, you’re the 2nd person in less than a week that’s told me this. I so appreciate the feedback! I’ll be getting in touch with WP straightaway. Yikes! It’s very disconcerting since they give us very little control over the settings. I think I’ll be doing some investigating tonight in addition to contacting them. Goodness!
you can also e-mail me personally if you’d like. 🙂 michelle@lifeafter.org
Thanks for the info and God bless!
Michelle
Hi there again Margaret!
So…I went to the browser problem section for WP.com and I copied the info they had. The info is pasted below my note here. Basically, this is an IE problem and from what I understand it’s been a HUGE problem for a lot of people for quite some time now. Sigh… I also copied their suggestions for those who use IE on what you can do to fix it. I hope this helps – let me know how this goes and then I can use the info w/ others who might be experiencing the same issues. I really appreciate the time you took to let me know – thanks again and God bless!
Michelle
