2 Nephi 24:12-14; “How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! Art thou cut down to the ground, which did weaken the nations! 13 For thou hast said in thy heart: I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north; 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the Most High.”
Isaiah 14:12-14; “How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! 13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.”
On the LDS’ website the following note for the intro of 2 Nephi 24 reads as follows –
‘Israel will be gathered and will enjoy millennial rest—Lucifer was cast out of heaven for rebellion—Israel will triumph over Babylon (the world)—Compare Isaiah 14. About 559–545 B.C.’
In light of this, here are the questions we have today –
1.Isaiah made this prophecy c. BC 700. Why has the Church inserted this into their canon for a time period that took place 150 years later?
2.How did the Nephites get this info from Isaiah if they were already in America?
3.How does this affect the Nephite nation if they’re living on the other side of the world?
4.Why did Smith use the Latin word ‘Lucifer’ when he claimed there was neither Greek, nor Latin, on the plates he supposedly translated?
5.Why would God plagiarize Himself?
6.The most perplexing question…If the Church doesn’t believe the Bible has been translated correctly, why are they plagiarizing it?
