Psalm 119:160 “Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.”
The similarities of the verses we’re looking at today are unmistakable! It’s clearly obvious our Nephi fellow didn’t limit himself to plagiarizing just one, or two biblical figures. Check out the following info –
Acts chapter three took place circa 30-35 AD, and was written around 63 AD. See Blueletterbible.org for more info. The biblical narrative in Acts 3 tells us Malachi chapter four was fulfilled before the apostles’ very eyes –
Acts 3:21 “Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.”
The problem is that Nephi plagiarized Luke by stating the same thing. The other problem is how Nephi did this 600 years before Luke even made these statements in Acts!
1 Nephi 3:20 “And also that we may preserve unto them the words which have been spoken by the mouth of all the holy prophets, which have been delivered unto them by the Spirit and power of God, since the world began, even down unto this present time.”
Today we’re wondering why, or rather how, Nephi wrote this in 600 BC?
The Holy Spirit wouldn’t be poured out on mankind for another 600 years!
What ‘words’ was Nephi referring to? This verse seems to have been plopped down in the middle of the narrative with no other references supporting it.
The remaining four references are no better. One will notice the timelines in the BoM never change, and lack definitive information. Whereas with the Bible, a progression of time is seen, as well as defined, with verifiable, historical events.
1 Nephi 5:8 “…Now I know of a surety that the Lord hath…” 600 BC
Acts 12:11 “…Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent…” 45 AD
1 Nephi 5:18 “…plates of brass should go forth unto all nations, kindreds, tongues…” 600 BC
Revelation 14:6 “…and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people.” 97 AD
1 Nephi 6:5 “…unto those who are not of the world.” 600 BC
John 17:14 “…and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world…” 85 AD
1 Nephi 7:8 “And now I, Nephi, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts…” 600 BC
Mark 3:5 “…being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, he saith unto the man…” 70 AD
“Today we’re wondering why, or rather how, Nephi wrote this in 600 BC?”
For those of us who believe Heavenly Father was the author of what these servents wrote, there is no problem with Nephi learned about these ongoing concerns.
For those of us who belirve Heavenly Father spoke through Nephi there is no problem with Him speakinf to Nephi about this ongoing problem.
sorry about the double post, i forgot my password and did not think the first one went through
