2 Timothy 3:15; “And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures,  which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.”

The adjective heartbroken doesn’t do justice to what I, and millions of others, have experienced upon the discovery the Book of Mormon is a fraud. Every fiber of my being was tightly wrapped in identifying myself as a Mormon first, and all other things second.

Understanding the devastating loss Mormons go through when they leave the Church is the first step in knowing how to reach out to them. That said, Christians also know there is healing in the gospel of God’s Word; the Bible! This is where we take all things to examine and test what we hear from others.

When leaving the Church there are countless things to learn not only about the Bible, but the endless lies Joseph Smith and company has produced in the Church’s 180+ years of existence.

One of the topics we’ve focused on is the BoM. We’re compared the BoM to everything from biblical truth, to historical events. See our page Book of Mormon Research Topics A-Z on the front page. Today we’re looking at the plagiarisms. (more…)

In their routine fashion of diverting attention via means of confusion, the Church tweaked what it plagiarized from the prophet Isaiah.

The Church’s message on the importance of baptism has been stretched to its limit. They’ve made their canon so confusing, it’s difficult to determine which is worse – lying about the Israelites practice of baptism in the BC era (which they didn’t do), or retro-engineering what Joe Smith plagiarized from Isaiah’s prophecy.

Let’s sort this out to you can lovingly share this with the Mormon you know, and give demonstrative evidence of why their canon was written to confuse them.

Here’s what the original Book of Mormon said –

1830 Book of Mormon, p. 52; “Hearken and hear this, O house of Jacob, which are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah, which swear by the name of the Lord . . .” [emp. mine]

Psalm 119:160 “Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.”

Bible studyThe similarities of the verses we’re looking at today are unmistakable! It’s clearly obvious our Nephi fellow didn’t limit himself to plagiarizing just one, or two biblical figures. Check out the following info –

Acts chapter three took place circa 30-35 AD, and was written around 63 AD. See Blueletterbible.org for more info. The biblical narrative in Acts 3 tells us Malachi chapter four was fulfilled before the apostles’ very eyes –

BoM3in1 2We came upon a story in the Book of Mormon so ‘incredible’ for the lack of a better word, we thought we’d share it with you today.

The setting takes place in 90 BC with a character known as King Lamoni from the book of Alma. Supposedly, everyone in town thought Lamoni had died, and the queen (who by the way has no name), summoned the prophet Ammon to come in and resurrect her husband. Apparently, the king had passed out, and became unresponsive after hearing Ammon preach the gospel about a ‘Great Spirit’ who lives in, and rules from heaven.

bom.jpgThere are a couple of passages in the Book of Mormon we’re looking at today. Within these two passages, there are two possibilities of what took place when Jesus supposedly visited the Nephites soon after His resurrection

We’re listing our examples below, along with our questions!

In our first scenario we have Jesus ‘quoting’ the Apostle Peter before Peter has had a chance to write his part in the book of Acts.

Mormon Decisions 10Today we’re looking at an interesting topic in the Book of Mormon that caused Joseph Smith a fair amount of confusion. The topic is on the definition of ‘strait’.

Our text comes from two verses in the Bible that Smith plagiarized and stuck in the Book of Mormon; Matthew 7:14 found in 3 Nephi 14:14 and Isaiah 49:20 found in 1 Nephi 21:20.
