October 30 – Signs of God’s True Servant. Isaiah 53:4-6; “Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.”

The 48 prophecies in Isaiah 53 not only describe what God’s Servant would do for us, but it also provides some great material for a few different Bible studies!
Here’s our list of what you can use for a great Bible study!
1.List all the characteristics of God’s Servant (Jesus). Using a concordance, and/or Bible dictionary, look for other verses with the same word.
2.Use the info you’ve learned from our Lord’s nature as a marker to ensure the Jesus of the church you attend is worshiping the correct Jesus.
3.You’ll learn a lot by studying historical events of the 48 hours before Jesus’ death, and you’ll discover a vast agreement in the assessments of scholars. Jesus suffered such extreme brutality, his visage was marred beyond description.
Knowing this information, it’ll be easy to toss any teaching by others who try to claim it was just a common event of the time, or their leader like Joe Smith, endured abuse by others that was equally brutal. This is nonsense, as it’s a well known fact, there are no other written accounts of anyone enduring such brutality.
Of course, the most obvious in all this is the death of God’s Servant. Only Christ Jesus our Lord fulfilled the exact specifications of dying for our sins. No other man, including Joe Smith could ever do such a thing as this!

Visage of Joseph and Jesus Compared. Straightforward Answers to Tough Gospel Questions, pp. 125-126; “In a prophetic description of the promised Messiah, Isaiah said “his visage” would be more “marred” than that of any man (Isa. 52:14). Though no mortal man has endured what Christ did in his matchless labor of atonement, the effect of his suffering was not such that it distorted his appearance in a manner to justify this prophecy…Christ gave a dual meaning to these words by applying them to another servant of the Lord in the last days (see 3 Ne. 20:44). We understand that servant to be Joseph Smith…”
