The Teachings of Spencer W. Kimball, p. 44; “As in Adam all die, so in Christ shall all be made alive. Adam and Eve transgressed a law and were responsible for a change that came to all their posterity, that of mortality. Could it have been the different food which made the change? Somehow blood, the life-giving element in our bodies, replaced the finer substance which coursed through their bodies before.”
1 Corinthians 15:22; “For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.”
Leviticus 17:11; “For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.”
Ephesians 4:14; “That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive”.
We found it interesting how the Church uses a random bible verse to promote their views, and from the other side of their mouths, tell lies.
Where in the Bible does it say the things Mr. Kimball said here?
Why isn’t what God said in His word enough?
Why isn’t the info we have in the Bible enough for us to know that somehow God put a death sentence on mankind, without having to make up stories of what He did?
You people are hypocrites. You find this teaching of President Kimball’s to be “foolish,” but you buy the biblical account of a talking serpent who tempts Adam and Eve. Or of the teaching that Jesus took upon himself the sins of the world. Or that he took water and turned it into wine.
Hypocrisy is rampant in the world and the anti-Mormon faction is as rife with it as the Jewish leaders in the days of Jesus. No one will go to hell or be subject to condemnation for not believing the gospel in this, the final dispensation. But if one fights God’s work using dishonesty and rank hypocrisy, that’s another matter.
Miracles are a part of God’s work and to deny the possibility that the forbidden fruit changed Adam and Eve’s metabolism and introduced death into the world IS rank hypocrisy. As Macro said in I CLAUDIUS, “That is the nature of miracles…to be unique.”
You need to simmer down there John, name calling will not be tolerated here.
Individuals can’t read one verse, and assume the meaning behind it. You need to study the verse in context with what’s around it. Studying what comes before, and after a verse is very important.
Mr. Kimball was stating his own opinion, and assumptions as biblical fact, which is something you can’t do that when it comes to God’s word. – Melissa Grimes
